iPhone 5 - Hold Up!

posted by enigin in General Geek

AT Enigin most of us have iPhones, with Enigin being a bastion of Apple technology. It is also amazing how many Enigin Distributor rely on Apple’s little masterpiece.

Hence we have a range of versions being used. Some still have iPhone 3, others 3G and some sporting proudly the iPhone 4 - but of course this will be supplanted soon by the iPhone 5 - but when?

Rumours run wild around Apple products, great marketing by them. Anticipation builds, often frustration when the rumours prove to be untrue, possibly all part of the marketing (cynically). When what is expected arrives, great celebration follows.

Often the update is hailed, but proves to fall short of the hopes - with iPhone 5 speed, new chips and 4G are being voiced, we will see but I am due an upgraded, so do I wait?

Beatweek magazine recently carried the follwoing information:

LinkedIn Hits 100 Million

At Enigin we understand the importance of social media to business, we encourage our Enigin Distributors to sign up for Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

LinkedIn may not be as popular as Facebook or Twitter, primarily because these are targeted at consumers, whereas LinkedIn is aimed at business/professional users.

But the service reached a major landmark when the they hit the 100 million member mark this week (March 22 2011).

iPhone Falls 1000 Feet and Works!

At Enigin we you will see that most employees and directors use iPhones, and with Enigin Plc’s Eniscope App, many Enigin Distributors also are equipped with Apple’s technology.

All are worried about dropping the phone, fearing at least a cracked screen, and there are one or two, who use it with the broken screen or have had to dispose of their handset.

So the questions has been asked “Is the Apple iPhone 4 tough enough or will that pretty screen crack if you look at it too hard?”

SONY Vaio has just come out with 4 brand new notebooks, each with its own personality, and most importantly eco friendly!

Just like Enigin give businesses the chance to be greener and save money, these little marvels from Vaio give the user the sensation (to some extent, rightly so) of being environmentally friendly even when typing or browsing the internet. Here are the 4 newbies:

The Web Weapon

posted by enigin in General Geek

Over the past two years the web and the internet has become a major weapon for political protesters.

Social Networking sites have become a major implement to co-ordinate and spread “the word” regarding demonstrations and unrest.

This month internet use in this way has become evident with the riots in Egypt, where many of the populace are protesting against President Hosni Mubarak.

Stream Enigin Videos Anywhere

posted by enigin in General Geek

Here at Enigin we produce quite a few videos for tuition, marketing and more.

It does mean that we are always monitoring video delivery across networks and the web - which is commonplace now but not that long ago was a little hit and miss.

It is interest then, to us at Enigin at least, that a new product has been released that promises to stream video to almost anything and form anywhere - this is what the manufacturers revealed:

It’s Gadget Season

posted by enigin in Geeky Fun Stuff

Being the Xmas holiday time we see all sorts of gadgets being promoted - raising the question as to what will be the favoured gadget for presents this year.

Here at Enigin we love our gadgets - well mainly the guys, you know how it is with boys and their toys. At Enigin wWe work in a fairly techie business so I guess it goes with the territory.

I see the blog Ken’s Tech Tips has what he reckons will be the hot sellers- he tops out with Amazon’s Kindle - interesting if this proves to be true, they have been advertising it heavily and with a reduced price I guess it has a chance, plus the addition of a 3G model will help.

Amazingly I think everyone would expect Apple’s iPad would be in there, it would certainly top the “most wanted” gift list, but I guess it is just to heavily priced for many people to buy it for someone else, a case of “I bought this for xyz, but I think I will keep it for myself.”

Here is his listing:

Beatles Have Still Got It

posted by enigin in Geeky Fun Stuff

By Steve Hill

My 16 year old son this week was horrified by Apples latest publicity campaign - he got the pre-event invitations, he waited in anticipation as the date for the launch of something exciting was about to be announced. He wondered what the new gadget the emperors of the “gadget” world about to pull out of the hat.

He was grossly disappointed when it was announced that the Beatles music was now on iTunes.

Reach the Summit with iPad Apps

posted by enigin in Uncategorized

I mentioned in my last article the usefulness of iPods and iPads when heading out into the hills, with GPS, maps and routes all available as apps or services.

After using some of these features on a reasonable low level walk in the North East of England last month I then headed west to the English mountains in England’s beautiful Lake District and used a borrowed iPad in earnest to help me and wife up a reasonably serious route up Helvellyn peak.

Downloading a map proved helpful, but even better was an app called Viewranger which provided a map of our route, with links to even better maps. It went beyond providing maps with a detailed route guide, which I was able to use as toiled upward and then traversed a narrow rocky ridge, the infamous Striding Edge.

Some People Just Love the Latest Enigin Gadget

posted by enigin in Geeky Enigin Stuff

Speaking to one of Enigin’s Directors recently he told me story about a client, who will remain nameless, who loves his Eniscope.

What’s and Eniscope? It’s Enigin’s real-time energy management system - the Eniscope itself is a reasonably  understated black box with a small screen showing rather boring numbers, but it does have a few flashing lights - it is what it does beyond the box that attracts people.
